Inhaltszusammenfassung:

Abstract:

The thesis of this paper ist that the ethnomethodological version of labeling theory has born a new sociological homunculus: the „reactional dope“. A subsequent analysis comes to the following conclusions: (1) The concept of the „reactional dope“ runs into trivial statements. (2) It is short-sighted because it denies the reality of the individual being labeled, denounces theoretically useful separations of phenomena, does not offer better solutions to traditional questions, and does not formulate an explanatory theory. (3) It is politically and morally questionable, because it strikes out the concept of „victim“ from the sociological vocabulary.
